Last Friday, I did a post on free standing rack for towel. Today, I am sharing a fun DIY project making used of an old carton box for holding hand towel. It is expected the project will take less than 2 hours to accomplish and the end result looks something like the picture below:
For this project you will need:
- Fabric in one or two colors
- Sponge – Cardboard box
- Another piece of fabric in different color
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
DIY steps to make this decorative box for hand towel
First, select a box (could be an old box that you do not use it any more). Then, you are going to take the fabric in one color and cover the cardboard box from the outside, as you can see on the pictures below.
Then you are going to cut stripes from the fabric, in my case white fabric and braid a rope. The stripes don’t have to be too wide or too thin. Mine are around 5cm each depending how wide you want the rope to be. You are going to need two stripes for one rope.
Take the two white stripes, turn them on the right and cross them on the left. If you don’t understand the procedure that I’ve described you can always use YouTube and see some videos about how to braid a rope. Repeat the procedure and braid a lot of ropes.
Glue the ropes as you want. Use your imagination. I glued first the white ones and then the blue ones, but you can use one color and make them all the same or you can buy a rope and glue that one.
Cut a peace of the sponge by measuring with the box and put it on the bottom of the box.
The other piece of fabric you will use to cover the inside of the box. Fold it on the top and glue that piece on the outside of the box. The rest of the fabric put it inside. You should get something like this.
As you know that creativity knows no limits you can always use your imagination and add some finishing touches. This is my final result.
